Trinity’s Memorial Garden
Trinity has established a Memorial Garden for the cremated remains of members who wish to be buried at the church. The garden is located on the east side of the sanctuary, and provides a place of quiet beauty and reverence, suitable for meditation and prayer, as well as being easily accessible from the sanctuary or chapel for services. The garden is handicapped accessible and open whether the church buildings are open or not.
A raised bed within the brick garden walls is the common in-ground burial site, and individual bronze memorial plaques are placed on the walls. Each 10- by 2-inch plaque contains the full name and dates of birth & death of the deceased. Interment of cremated remains in the memorial garden will be only for present and past members and pastors of Trinity and their immediate families.
An individual burial space and the corresponding bronze plaque may be reserved in advance of need by making a tax-deductible gift of $1000 for the Garden. In addition, you may wish to have a plaque mounted on the wall of the Garden as a cenotaph (a memorial for a loved one whose remains are buried elsewhere). This also may be done by a gift of $1000 for the Garden. Contact the church financial secretary (804-288-6057 ext. 203) or download the appropriate forms listed below to make a gift for a burial space or cenotaph.
The Creation story of Genesis relates how God formed us out of the dust of the ground. It is therefore fitting that with cremation and burial our earthly bodies are returned to that ground. Trinity Church seeks to minister to us not only in life, but also through our death. The Memorial Garden provides a sacred final resting place.
