Christ the Lord is risen today, alleluia. Earth and heaven in chorus say, alleluia! Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia. Sing, ye heavens and earth reply Alleluia.

It’s been said that if you want to study the theology of the Wesleys and Methodists you should look to the hymnal. What we believe is passed down in our songs. It’s hard for me to imagine Easter without this glorious Charles Wesley hymn. Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia! Fought the fight the battle won, Alleluia! Death in vain forbids him rise, Alleluia! Christ has opened paradise, Alleluia! Resurrection means that God wins. We need never despair, give up or give in. Never. No matter what. God wins. Soar we now where Christ has led, Alleluia! Following our exalted head, Alleluia! Made like him, like him we rise, Alleluia! Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Alleluia! I look forward to singing with you on this triumphant day. Alleluia. God wins.
