Go and Make Disciples

Go and Make Disciples

On Easter Sunday Gail Clelland presented the 4th Grade Learning Den with Easter Crosses that she and the Trinity Stitchers had made in honor of Pam Rutledge. Pam had taught the 4th Grade class for thirty years before she passed away in March. What a legacy – just think how many lives she has touched over those 30 years! When her health first began to fail, Pam’s first and foremost concern was her 4th grade class. The Stitchers sent Pam one of the crosses in early March for her to see. Thanks to the Stitchers for remembering Pam – and the 4th Grade Sunday School class – in this most loving and significant way.

Lenten Love Project Outreach

Lenten Love Project Outreach

Once again Trinity reached out to our neighbors during Lent as part of the Lenten Love Project.

This year Trinity’s Asbury Covenant Group took homemade goodies to Fire Station 8 as an extension of Trinity’s ministry to the community. They were much appreciated by the staff of Fire Station 8.

Christian Beliefs Sunday School Class took treats to Tuckahoe Elementary School.

The McClure Bible Study Class took treats to the Tuckahoe Rescue Squad.

Thank you for reaching out to the community! Connect, Grow, Serve!

Neon Night

Neon Night

On Friday, March 24, 116 elementary energetic kids showed up around 5:30 PM for the “Neon Night for Kids” event. The fun started on the playground and moved into Trinity Hall for a hot dog meal and a quick lesson on God’s Amazing Light. Then began a fast-paced evening filled with glow-in- the-dark dodge ball, worm races & cool games, making neon slime & other crafts, outdoor soccer and a challenging obstacle course.

The evening ended with the option of watching the incredible “Trolls” movie or other options including flashlight tag and much more. Kids left around 9 PM looking forward to the next sensational Trinity Children’s Ministry event!

Special thanks goes to Elisa Romans for the terrific idea and several dozen parents and other volunteers who spent time decorating for the event, supervising during the event and cleaning up after all the fun was done!

Confirmation + Shalom Farms

Confirmation + Shalom Farms

On Saturday May 6th, the Confirmation Class and their mentors went to Shalom Farms for one of their mission service days. After a tour of the farm and an instruction into what they would be doing for the day, the youth and adults worked tirelessly on their hands and knees to harvest Collard Greens. After the first truck load was harvested, a small group of youth and mentors, broke off and went to the barn to prep the greens for transport. They cut the stems to a uniform size, washed them, and packed them in bins. During the three hours that they worked, the group harvested, cleaned, and packed over 700 pounds of Collard Greens for Feed More.

Showing Appreciation – Stitchers’ Style!

Showing Appreciation – Stitchers’ Style!

Trinity Stitchers showed their leaders, Janet Hill and Sandy Cain, appreciation for their magnificent leadership on Monday, May 15. After a delightful lunch at Kitchen 64, the group traveled to Lavendar Fields for a guided tour of the garden there. Following ice cream (lavender ice cream for some!), the group purchased some herbs and lavender products at their leisure. A wonderful time was had by all.

Trinity Stitchers meets the 3rd Thursday of every month in Room 323, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Members bring their own lunch to have at lunchtime. The Stitchers lovingly create lap quilts, pillows, tote bags and prayer shawls to those having health issues for Trinity members as well as for non-Trinity members (oftentimes relatives of Trinity members). We are blessed to have this group here at Trinity, for the gifts of their hands bring blessings near and far. Everyone is welcome to join this group.

During this month of appreciation – we all give thanks for Janet Hill and Sandy Cain!

Just Do It!

Just Do It!

For those of you who were in worship on Sunday, May 21 you heard Pastor Larry’s sermon, “Just Do It!” based on Acts 17:22-31. In his sermon Larry reminded us that it’s one thing to listen to and study God’s word, but we must go and put our faith in action – like Nike’s slogan from a few years ago – Just Do It!

How fitting it was to learn following Sunday’s sermon that the Life Choices Sunday School Class did just that on Saturday, May 20. They gave of their time on a Saturday, cleaning up Judy and Jack Suttons’ yard. Through their efforts they ended up taking two full trailers to the dump. One trailer was trash and garbage (old pots old garbage cans, old wheelbarrows, general garbage lying around the backyard), and one trailer was full of compost (leaves, weeds, vines, tree limbs, etc). Class members who participated were Paul, Courtenay and JC Brooks, Barry and Christopher Schmitt, Tucker, Rives and Caris Worsham, Mike, Mary Katherine, Matthew, Lizzie and Allison McCullough, Roger, Lisa, Charlotte and Anne Claire Hart.

How will you live out your faith this week? How will you put your faith in action? It doesn’t have to be hard – it could be as simple as cleaning up a shut-in’s yard. The possibilities are endless – but Just Do It!!
