The high school students from Trinity took a trip to Decatur, Alabama to serve with the students of the Church at Stone River. While we were there, we partnered with the Circle Ranch to help refurbish the gym so that the children that live there will have a place to have fun and grow with each other. The Circle Ranch is a nonprofit that helps support foster families by providing affordable housing with enough space for everyone to have their own room. They currently have three 8-10 bedroom houses for families and are working on more! We worked to refinish the game room and workout room, by framing in a wall, hanging drywall, painting and doing trim work. In the inside of the gym we hung some plywood on the walls behind the basketball goals to provide some more protection for the walls. Outside we did a variety of landscaping jobs, and replaced some siding, as well as painting the exterior walls. Finally, in the back bathrooms, we replaced all of the plumbing and installed new toilets, as well as demoing and refinishing the walls, ceilings, and floors. In the evenings we explored the idea of living in community as on big family. Check out our vlog series created by our students to see some of the ins and outs of our trip to Decatur!
